Data Entry Specialist: Rua’a Atiyeh

Rua‘a Atiyeh joined ACOR in April 2026 as a data entry specialist for the National Inventory Project. She holds a bachelor’s degree in archaeology from the University of Jordan (2021), and, in 2023, her passion for archaeology led her to pursue a master’s degree in the same field at the University of Jordan.

Her academic and research interests span a broad chronological range, from early human settlements to the Islamic period. Following her undergraduate studies, she worked as a research assistant at the University of Jordan, focusing on lithic analysis.

Ms. Atiyeh has participated in numerous archaeological excavations in various regions of Jordan, including fieldwork at Faynan in collaboration with the University of Waterloo. She has also been actively involved in a range of volunteer initiatives in archaeology and cultural heritage.

In 2023, she joined the Department of Antiquities as a part-time field archaeologist, where she worked for two years on major excavation projects in Amman spanning multiple historical periods. This hands-on experience fostered her strong interest in patterns of human settlement, which now forms a central focus of her master’s thesis. She later expanded her expertise into archaeological report writing and data processing.

Additionally, Ms. Atiyeh collaborated on an international project in southern Jordan in partnership with UNESCO and the University of Florence (2025–2026). She has also contributed to several research papers and completed specialized training courses in archaeology and cultural heritage.
