Shatha Abu Aballi joined the SCHEP team as a communications and outreach intern in November 2016 and became communications officer and, later, communications manager. Shatha received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Hashemite University. Her undergraduate work was in archaeological and conservation sciences, and her graduate studies, in which she conducted a damage assessment of Umm al Jimal, focused on sustainable tourism. In early 2016, Shatha received a SCHEP scholarship to attend the prestigious 13th International Conference on the History and Archaeology of Jordan (ICHAJ 13). She began working with SCHEP later the same year, taking responsibility for SCHEP’s Arabic-language content, as well as a variety of other creative projects. As communications manager, she oversees the busy schedules and varied tasks of the entire communications team, which supports other teams within the project as well as SCHEP’s partner organizations to conduct community outreach, event planning, media coverage, and social media campaigns.
