New NEH grant received!

18 August 2021

We are proud to announce that our proposed “The Temple of the Winged Lions Publication Project” is being funded via the U.S National Endowment for the Humanities’s Collaborative Research Grants program!

In the current round, only 13 awards were made through this highly competitive program. Please see NEH’s formal announcement here: https://www.neh.gov/news/neh-announces-284-million-239-humanities-projects-nationwide and the list of all funded projects in this round here: https://www.neh.gov/sites/default/files/inline-files/NEH%20grant%20awards%20and%20offers%2C%20August%202021.pdf

The grant provides $199,914 over two years to support to bring the TWL project to publication. It will support several staff at ACOR, 10 external scholars to complete manuscripts for the final publication, and 10 further consultants to perform other tasks directly relevant to that publication (e.g., scientific testing, analyses, photography, drawings). Dr. Jack Green (now of Miami University, but previously Associate Director at ACOR) drafted this proposal with support from Noreen Doyle and Dr. Pearce Paul Creasman. The advance contributions of TWL Publication Fellows Dr. Pauline Piraud-Fournet and Marco Dehner directly contributed to the proposal’s success. Dr. Creasman will assume the role of PI, while Ms. Doyle will administer and implement activities. Covid permitting, we expect to see a robust TWL publication in print in late 2023 or early 2024!
