Title VI Educator Fellowship Call for Application

November 15, 2022

The American Center of Research is currently seeking applications for three one-month remote fellowships for faculty members and administrators teaching at community colleges and/or minority-serving institutions (MSIs). Fields of study include but are not limited to all areas of the humanities, anthropology, archaeology, and women’s studies. Topics should contribute to scholarship in Middle East studies and must include the use of the American Center of Research Digital Archive. The Educator Fellows will develop lesson plans and/or curricular materials, which will be made available via the American Center’s open-access digital archive. In addition to informal peer review within the Educator Fellowship group, all materials will be reviewed by the community college/MSI advisor. The advisor will host online curriculum-development workshops with fellows at the start of their programs and will continue to review the curricular materials produced. The advisor will also provide guidance on outreach methods.

The intent of this fellowship is to encourage community college/MSI faculty to use the American Center’s digital archive as a primary source for research to be brought into the classroom for the benefit of students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to travel to the Middle East. Each fellow is expected to encourage their students to expand their understanding and knowledge about the Middle East through the exposure to the American Center’s digital archive.

U.S. citizenship is required. These remote awards must be used between July 1 and September 1, 2023. Funding for this fellowship is provided by a U.S. Department of Education grant.
