We are proud to share with you all our newest publication, The Story of SCHEP 2014–2018!
This engaging, visual booklet tells the story of the first four years of the Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project (SCHEP), a cooperative agreement between ACOR and USAID. USAID SCHEP has established and employed a unique model to support the sustainable development and management of Jordan’s cultural heritage, including archaeological sites, in a way that directly involves and benefits the local communities living around them.
This publication highlights the major achievements of the first four years of USAID SCHEP in several areas:
- Supporting the development of nine archaeological sites throughout Jordan, in partnership with local communities;
- Building the capacities of the Jordanian heritage sector through training courses, workshops, internships programs, and policy development;
- Engaging children and youth in hands-on activities to raise their awareness of cultural heritage;
- Promoting the development of sustainable, community-based tourism to lesser-known archaeological sites;
And more!
This publication is available for free on the ACOR website, and limited physical copies will be available at our headquarters in Amman.
ACOR would like to thank the United States Agency for International Development for their continued partnership and to congratulate the USAID SCHEP team for this significant achievement!
