Mohammad Rababah is a PhD candidate in archaeology at Technische Universität Berlin, where his research establishes a rigorous, multi-tiered forensic protocol for authenticating ancient numismatic collections. By integrating non-destructive scientific techniques, he develops systematic frameworks to detect sophisticated modern forgeries and safeguard the material integrity of cultural heritage. This innovative approach aims to improve the authentication of numismatic collections and support the protection of cultural heritage. He holds an MA in conservation and management of cultural resources and a BA in archaeology from Yarmouk University. With over a decade of professional field experience, Mohammad has served as a field archaeologist with Yarmouk University and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI), specializing in excavation, artifact analysis, and site documentation. He has also served as a teaching assistant and research associate on several international cultural heritage projects, contributing to education, preservation, and site management. His current research includes collaborations with museums and laboratories in Jordan and Germany, analyzing ancient coin samples to develop a replicable framework for detecting forgeries. Building on his ongoing collaboration with ACOR, he is a two-time fellowship recipient, having held the James A. Sauer Fellowship (2025–2026) and the current 2026–2027 Conference Travel Award. The latter award will support his upcoming presentation at the ASOR annual meeting in Chicago in fall 2026. His work represents a sophisticated intersection of archaeological science and heritage protection, bridging the gap between technical precision and cultural responsibility, providing robust tools to safeguard Jordan’s cultural legacy against the destabilizing effects of illicit trafficking and fraudulent replication.
