Rachel’s focus throughout her degree has been on researching how people form and reinforce identities through cultural practices during turbulent and transitional periods. She has a profound ambition to uncover, protect, preserve, and facilitate the historical and cultural past to share the human experiences of our ancestors. Her areas of interest include the medieval and early modern Mediterranean and the British Isles. She was selected to present her thesis at the 2024 University of Alberta History, Classics, and Religion Undergraduate Society Research Conference and the 2025 History, Classics, and Religion Graduate Student Association Postgraduate Global Research Conference. Throughout her degree, Rachel has demonstrated a dedication to academic excellence, earning herself a position on the Dean’s Honours Roll, obtaining various post-secondary scholarships and leadership awards, and receiving a prestigious outstanding international academic achievement designation from the Golden Key International Honour Society. Rachel’s future academic aspiration is to complete her MA in cultural heritage management, following her one-year employment sabbatical at Atlatl Archaeology Ltd in Alberta. Rachel is excited to participate in her first field school in Jordan under the supervision of Dr. Craig Harvey from the University of Alberta.
