Anthropology
Megan Nishida is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Notre Dame. Her doctoral research is focused on mortuary practices during the Early Bronze Age I in the Southern Levant in order to investigate the relationship between differentiation, inequality, and the first emergence of urbanism in the region. Prior to being accepted into the PhD program at Notre Dame, she was a professional archaeologist in the United States, working in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska. Her research under this fellowship will include integrating legacy maps with modern geospatial data and analyzing mortuary goods from the site in Jordan.
