Now Hiring: 3D Imaging & Photogrammetry Specialist
The American Center of Research, a nonprofit institution dedicated to advancing knowledge of Jordan and the interconnected region, past and present, seeks a 3D Imaging & Photogrammetry Specialist. This full-time position requires residence in Amman, Jordan, and is primarily intended to assist the organization in working on photogrammetry, laser scanning, and 3D reconstructions relating to the collaboration between Global Digital Heritage and ACOR.
The specialist will capture, process, and deliver high-quality 3D datasets for cultural-heritage research and conservation. The successful candidate will do photogrammetry and laser-scanning work—ranging from object models to large-scale site documentation. Regular travel within Jordan will be required.
Responsibilities:
- Implement field and lab image/scan campaigns for artifacts, architecture, and landscapes.
- Process data into accurate, metrically reliable 3D models and derivative products (meshes, orthophotos, point clouds, etc.).
- Maintain equipment, manage data, and ensure quality control according to ACOR standards.
- Train staff, interns, students, and partners in capture and processing best practices.
- Contribute to outreach, reporting, and grant proposals related to 3D documentation
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Anyone with sufficient relevant experience will be considered. In all cases, the following are required:
- Experience integrating 3D outputs with GIS, BIM, or web viewers (Cesium, Sketchfab, Potree).
- Scripting or automation skills (Python, CLI tools).
- Photogrammetry expertise: hands-on work with both large-scale (UAV, terrestrial) and object-level capture.
- Laser scanning: experience with terrestrial LiDAR or structured-light systems, including registration and alignment.
- Software proficiency: competence in at least two leading 3D-modeling packages (e.g., Metashape, RealityCapture, Cyclone, Faro Scene).
- Data management: good practice in archiving large datasets and documenting metadata.
- Team oriented: proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide training.
- Arabic language skills are preferred but not required.
Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE), resident in Amman, Jordan. The total compensation value will be approximately $20,000 annually, which includes salary, comprehensive health insurance, social security (U.S. or Jordan), securing residency and work permits in Jordan (if needed), dental insurance, a retirement plan, annual paid vacation based on length of service, annual paid sick leave, holidays, and other benefits. The specific salary will be based on experience.
