The American Center of Research, a nonprofit institution dedicated to advancing knowledge of Jordan and the interconnected region, past and present, seeks two Field Archaeologists. These full-time positions requires residence in Amman, Jordan, and are primarily intended to assist the organization in a major excavation to be conducted during the next two years. The successful candidates will implement and oversee excavations at a Roman-era site on the Dead Sea, including management of field work (survey, remote sensing, excavation), object cataloging, supervision, and analyses, leading to publication and preservation of aspects of the site.
These positions are funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of State.
Among the responsibilities will be:
- Excavation.
- Implementing field and laboratory work and analyses.
- Processing data and preparing manuscripts for publication.
- Maintaining equipment, managing data, and ensuring quality control according to ACOR standards.
- Supervising field staff, interns, students, and partners while maintaining best practices.
- Contributing to outreach and local community engagement.
