Zoe Bernier is a recent graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University. She received her BA in archaeology and heritage studies from Laurier in June 2025 and will begin work on her MA at Western University in anthropology in the fall of 2026. In 2023, she completed her field school credit in Jordan, excavating at Khirbat al-Mukhayyat, an Iron Age site near Mount Nebo. Since then, she has been excavating in Ontario, Canada, working as a field and mapping technician at a cultural resource management company. During her time at Laurier, she discovered an interest in bioarchaeology and finds it remarkable how much insight into someone’s life can be acquired by analyzing their skeleton. This interest has led Zoe to graduate school where she will be focusing her research on juvenile bioarchaeology and stable isotopes. She loves being out in the field, whether on a hill in Jordan or in a corn field in Ontario, and learning about the past through material culture and bones.
