Domizia Paolucci is presently completing the second year of the master’s degree program in Archaeology at La Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, specializing in Near Eastern Archaeology. She is preparing a thesis on archaic urbanization in the southern Levant entitled “Identity and Collective Memory at the Origin of Archaic Urbanization: Transformation and Use of the Landscape in the Southern Levant Between Early Bronze I and II.” She became interested in Near Eastern Archaeology during her bachelor’s degree program, also at Sapienza, from which she graduated 2021 with a thesis on “The Origin of Anthropomorphic Statuary in the Ancient Near East.” She has taken part in several archaeological projects, including the Italian Archaeological Mission to Motya, and the Rome La Sapienza Expedition to Palestine and Jordan excavations at Tell es-Sultan, ancient Jericho. Since 2021, she has been a staff member of the Lebanese-Italian Project in the Region of Tyre. In 2022 for the first time she joined the Archaeological Expedition to Khirbat Iskandar, directed by Prof. Suzanne Richard, Prof. Jesse Long, and Dr. Marta D’Andrea. Her main interest is the Ancient Bronze Age of the Southern Levant, in particular its connection with the previous period and the growth of human communities towards a new complexity.
